The Nazis are really the antagonists, rather the spirit of hate that the Nazis embodied.

It says after the diary ends that on the morning of the 4 August 1944, between 10 and 10.30, a car pulled up at the Annexe. An SS Sergeant, Karl Josef Silberbauer, and some Dutch members of the Security Polive went in and captured the 8 in the Annexe, and two of their helpers. Its not known who tipped them off.
All of the people from the Annexe died in the concentration camps except for Otto Frank, Anne’s father.
